iPhone hard reset and soft reset guide
If you have software problems with your iPhone, then doing soft or hard reset is the best way to rule out any problems before you get to the more severe and complicated issues. You might have to replace your phone or get a major repair done.
This guide will show you how to do it on all iPhone models and back up your phone before you do a hard reset; It’simportant that you don’t lose any of your data in the process if you want to keep it.
iPhone soft reset
iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, SE models
To soft reset your device – Hold the power button and the home button down until the apple logo comes on.
iPhone 6 – 8 models
To soft reset your device – Hold down the power/lock button and either the volume down button until the apple logo comes up.
iPhone X – 11, SE 2020
To soft reset your device – Hold down the power/lock button and either the volume up or down until the apple logo comes up.
iPhone hard reset
Resetting an iPhone to factory settings is the same method on every model, but before you do so, make sure you have backed up all your data if you want to keep it. If not, follow the instructions down below.
To hard reset your device – Make sure you’re on the home screen, then navigate to settings > then over to general > scroll down to reset > chose “erase all content and settings” (make sure to back up your data first)
How to back up your iPhone before resetting your phone
There are two ways that you can backup your phone first one is that you can do it through iCloud, or if you have a PC, you can back it up on iTunes.
To back up your phone using iCloud you first need to go into settings and press on your name.
Then go to iCloud to find the restore setting.
Make sure you have iCloud back up checked. Because you never know when you might break your phone and you need to back up your data on another iPhone.
How to back up/Restore your phone using iTunes?
First, you’ll need a laptop/PC and a iPhone charging cable.
If you don’t have the option to reset your iPhone with the options down below, then you have to do it to your iTunes. It will be easy if you have your iCloud password. If you don’t, you will have to contact Apple and show proof of purchase of your device to get done to unlock it for you; no one can offer iCloud unlocking services as it is illegal. Apple is the only one that can unlock iCloud.
First thing first open up itunes (If you don’t have it download get it from the itunes site)
Allow iTunes to access your device and it will sync up with your PC/laptop. Then press the small phone icon in the top left corner.
First, make sure you back up your phone from the options listed on itunes, then you are ready to restore your phone.
